Reflections

December 15, 2014 Melissa Zappelli

I was going to photograph Kingfishers this morning but it was very cloudy.  The Canning River where they live is overgrown and shady and to get good shots the sun has to be out.  So I changed my plan and headed to my usual spot on the Swan River.  The cloud cover resulted in morning light with a subtle clear quality which highlighted the detail beautifully.  The water was perfectly still and together with the cloudy atmosphere made for spectacular reflections.

I usually walk passed the Black Winged Stilts, they are always there and now I just take them for granted.  However, this morning the exceptional quality of the light highlighted the beauty of their feathers and the reflections showcased their long legs and interesting shape.
