I love the different seasons and often I the middle of one will yearn for the other!! A favourite winter waterfall with many moods, different every time. I have seen it slowed to a small trickle in summer, struggling to exist, barely flowing, almost defeated, yet the deep valley and waterhole remained a cool refuge from the blistering heat above. This image after very heavy rain in winter, torrential, out of control, unstoppable, like some wrathful Goddess emerged from the depths enraged, powerful, seductive and dangerous with a kind of desperate mythic beauty that draws you inexorably closer. I have seen it shrouded in mist, the movement of the water contrasted by utter stillness in the forest, a feeling of utter peace. As if everything else has ceased to exist. Refuge from the world and my own mind. Very challenging to photograph in these conditions! Mist and water flying everywhere! Hard to keep the camera dry even with its cover, continuously wiping the lens, balanced on a log!! I will never forget this morning! Alive and totally, literally immersed in the scene!! 💚
