A Red-capped Robin perched in a dead Mulga Stump! Captured in the Murchison region of Western Australia. Very hot again today in Perth!! The heat reminds me of the desert where these little beauties are found in abundance!! The desert country is the home of my heart. Dust, red dirt, Mulga thickets, Spinifex, creek lines, granite rocks, gamma holes and breakaway ridges, hiding caves full of promise. Reptiles, insects and of course the beautiful desert birds with amazing colours!! Tough creatures, evolved survive, and even thrive in the harsh, unforgiving environment! Even though I have lived in the city for years the desert is the home of my heart. It is familiar, a place I understand and know and where I feel happiness and a sense of belonging to something far bigger than me.
