What can I say?  Emus are fascinating creatures.  I have come across many emus in the the desert and the forest and I know they are very curious.  If you see one and stop your car but leave it running with your window down they will often emerge and slowly walk right up to your car.  If you are walking in the bush and see one and stop and make emu noises a funny ooongh ooongh in the back of your throat they will often come close.  This one was in a farmers paddock so I stopped the car beside the fence and sure enough he came right up!  I took some photos from the car window and then got out, he walked away but the ooongh ooongh noises got him back.  Me on one side of the barb wire fence and he on the other!!  I love the golden orange eye and the somewhat manic look and energy emus have!!  This one seemed to have a knowing, slightly disapproving look about him!  Like he knows better and is looking out on our human antics with humour and distaste.  I am not sure why but this image seems fitting for today election result.  A change in Government.  Maybe now climate change and the issues facing the environment and our beautiful wildlife will be taken more seriously?
