I took advantage of the sunny weather over the weekend to take Kalli dog on a birding expedition, through the fence, past the HORSE, over the river, up the hill, past the ruins and the dam, down over the rocks to my secret hideout that overlooks a grassy area strewn with black lichen covered rocks!!  A favourite feeding place for the little birds.  It has been a while since Kalli has come with me and the camera on a photography walk and I noticed a difference.  She has grown up and her wild Kelpie instinct has kicked in.  Kelpies are extremely smart, active dogs that want to work and are constantly trying to figure out what you want.  We went into stealth mode and she stayed behind me making regular eye contact to check in and see what I wanted.  When we got to the hideout in the boulders, I found a hiding spot.  She copied and lay down behind a rock in the sun. It took about ten minutes for the birds to return to their grassy feeding ground.  We saw Fairy Wrens, White Robins, Whistlers, Thornbills, Weebills, Magpies, Red Cap Parrots and Ravens.  At one point a big flock of Weebills came in, twittering and fluttering above the grass and landing on the boulders.  Kalli did not move and I managed to capture some images.  This one is slightly soft, but I really like the perch and soft background!!
