A male Blue Breasted Fairy Wren.  Gorgeous little birds defined by their deep rich navy coloured chest.  The contrast between the deep navy chest, turquoise blue head and rust red wing is stunning.   The pair I found were friendly.  I would arrive at their home before dawn, and find a spot to sit quietly and wait, watching as shafts of light pierced the canopy and the forest creatures woke and came alive with the sun. The fairies were always there, they would appear first in glimpses, emerging from the prickly dryandra bushes to flit up and own their favourite log catching tiny insects.  Time passed very quickly when I was with these guys, deep in concentration watching them, trying to predict their movement and capture images that showed their beautiful colours and isolated them from the cluttered forest background.  This image captured with my Nikon D850 and Nikon 80-400mm lens.  Settings were; ISO 500, 400mm, f5.6, 1/1600.
